The Art of Comedy
What is humor?
Have people told you that you're funny, or that you should try stand-up? Perhaps telling jokes to strangers is on your bucket list? Are you looking to strengthen your confidence, stage presence, and public speaking skills through the art of comedy? Or maybe you are just looking for one night a week when you are able to get silly and have FUN!
This eight-week course will provide you with the opportunity to discover your best comedic voice and work directly with an experienced comedian to create and refine your own 3 to 5-minute stand-up routine.
You will learn the art of timing, stage presence, reading an audience, and how to adjust your material when a joke is not received as intended. Through collaboration with peers, professional feedback on written work, and practice performances, you will cultivate your best performance style and have an opportunity to share your work in an open mic-style showcase performance!
Classes will be held Mondays from 7-8 pm on:
October 3, 10, 17, 24 (no class October 31)
November 7, 14, 21, and 28
With the showcase performance being held on Thursday, December 1st
Fee: $200 ($50 deposit required for registration, balance due 09/30)
