A beginner-friendly drawing course, new at Paris Academy!
Learn beginner to intermediate drawing techniques , for ages 10 - 110.
This course is more than a black and white graphite drawing class. It offers a new approach to a classical foundation course through experimentation and exploration of different media and styles.
By adding elements of abstraction and color techniques, this course takes a spin-off from the traditional drawing class. It will explore a variety of subjects, styles, and media. Some media include colored pencils, graphite, and gouache.
There will be an emphasis on proportions and contour lines of animal portraits and landscapes. Some photographs will be utilized as a reference, with interpretation by the students. These can be photo-realistic or interpretive.
Some main points in this course include:
• How to create compositions in their simplest form.
• Advanced pressure and blending techniques.
• How to create a variety of textures, forms, and moods.
• Understanding the effects of light on differentiated surfaces.
• Differentiated drawing/painting techniques of media such as ink, watercolor, graphite, and possibly gouache.
