In this class we will construct a duffle bag made from 3 1/2” squares. It can also be made from a solid piece of fabric, but the patchwork is much cuter.

For this class you will need 140 squares measuring 3 1/2” inches, 1 yard of cotton lining fabric, 1 yard of Cotton batting or Soft and Stable, 1/2 yard of accent fabric, 4 yards of strapping for handles and a 30” bag zipper with two tabs.

Preparation before class: sew the 3 1/2” squares together in seven rows that are 14 squares long. Then sew 2 sets of squares that are 3 squares by 3 squares and 2 sets that are 3 squares by 4 squares. This step takes the longest so it is important to have it done before class. Press down the seams on these pieces.
